Certified Organic Standards

At Cento, we recognize the importance of sustainability and protecting our environment while still providing the highest quality natural products. Crop rotation, which is the practice of growing a series of different crops in the same area in sequenced seasons, helps reduce soil erosion, improve soil stability and increase crop fertility. Different crops require different nutrients from the soil and crop rotation helps land remain fertile by not using all of the same nutrients every season. We are continually looking to further our line of organic products, and all of our current organic products contain the USDA Certified Organic seal on their labels.

Organic Farming

Organic farming focuses on working with nature rather than against it. By avoiding the use of synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers and unnecessary food additives, organic growers help protect the environment while cultivating healthier, more natural ingredients. Instead of relying on harsh chemicals, organic farmers utilize sustainable techniques such as crop rotation, beneficial insects and natural soil enrichment to maintain healthy crops and fertile farmland.

Crop rotation plays an important role in organic agriculture by helping preserve soil nutrients, reduce erosion and support long term soil health. Different crops naturally replenish and balance the soil throughout changing growing seasons, creating a more sustainable farming ecosystem. These thoughtful farming methods not only benefit the land, but also contribute to the quality and integrity of the food itself.

Organic farming standards also place strict limitations on artificial preservatives, synthetic colorings, flavor enhancers and processing aids commonly used in conventional foods. Products labeled organic must meet rigorous standards established by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), ensuring they are grown, handled and processed according to certified organic guidelines. To carry the USDA Organic seal, products must contain at least 95 percent organically produced ingredients.
